For me painting does not begin with image. It begins with placement.
My work investigates the moment at which a room ceases to function as a neutral architecture and begins to respond to the presence of an object.
I treat painting not as representation, but as spatial intervention. The work becomes operative in relation to light, distance, movement, duration, person(s).
The question is not what the painting depicts. The question is: at what point does the atmosphere shift?
